Isu & Kontroversi

Don’t they have any feelings of guilt and insight at all?

“The goal of education is the advancement of knowledge and the dissemination of truth.”

As medical professionals, we have responsibilities to tell the truth based on statistics and evidence-based medicine and make any decisions based on risks and benefits analysis. Patient safety is our priority. First rule of Hippocratic Oath – Do no harm. It really saddened me (I’m actually furious) when some people like to manipulate the public (either for money or other ulterior motives) by giving inaccurate and false information and indirectly causing potential harm to the community (and they’re not even medically-trained) — this happens a lot in Malaysia among some founders, some celebrities and instafamous selling products. And now the hot topic is – doula (unregistered in Malaysia, practising illegally and doula extremists). Even though I have a medical degree and I did a rotation in O&G as an HO, I am training (Specialist) in General Surgery (Pembedahan Awam), O&G is not my specialty, I won’t and I will not give advice regarding pregnancies. I can’t believe someone who is not even medically trained have the guts to give inaccurate advice to these mothers. Someone’s life is on the line, not just the mother but also the baby. Don’t they have any feelings of guilt and insight at all? Dear followers, please seek knowledge from the experts (O&G Specialists and midwives). I give you an example, if you have a brain tumour, you would expect a Neurosurgeon to operate on you, not an Orthopaedic Surgeon (who deals with bones and fracture) right? If your car breaks down, you go to see a mechanic, not a doctor right? It’s common sense and please use your common sense wisely.

Please check out my IG stories and highlights about the current hot topic – doula. To new followers, I don’t give personal medical advice on social media as it is against our code of conduct and ethics. Please stop sending me pictures of your scans and parts of your body. Please see a doctor in a clinic/hospital for formal assessments, investigations and consultations. Thank you.
